Unfair to commercial property owners

Unfair to commercial property owners

A s an operator of a commercial multi-family apartment complex, I fail to understand the “strong equity argument” that city officials are making for the proposed pay-as-you-throw trash program.

Our property taxes recently rose by $10,000 annually. Now city officials want to charge building owners additional fees for their personally owned onsite dumpsters. Their reasoning is that “these costs would likely be passed on to the tenants.”

We have held the line on rental increases for the past two years, feeling that our residents have endured enough with the massive price increases in utility services. We are trying to maintain equitable and fair housing rental rates for our tenants
